Give Thanks

Few days ago I met and hanged out with this particular friend. We chatted and shared quite some stuff over meal. One thing that she touched on was regarding being thankful and learn how to appreciate. Sometimes it is indeed hard for us to expect someone to at least show their heart of appreciation. Being thankful and to appreciate somebody’s help or contribution is not an innate ability or inborn nature of a person but again, it’s a process of learning.

Undeniably, often, we especially Chinese feel awkward to say “Thanks for your help”. Many times, we are conscious and it is not that we forget but we tend to. We just refuse to express. Her sharing has inspired me to be more sensitive towards my daily living, be more caring about others’ needs and desires, and as a reminder to give thanks and appreciate people around me. To further substantiate the fact, I would like to give you guys a situation that I believe many people face in their relationships.

A and B are close friends. As time goes by, they choose to take a little step further. In their relationship, A has been contributing, advising, caring and I should say being very faithful and devoted to B. Of course B has been pouring out and playing his part. A chooses to be patient and understand B more. A wants to mould and build up B slowly. A wants B to be a betterman. We know that all gals long to be loved and cared. They want to be protected. They are seeking for security in their respective dictionary. That’s why they need a guy and that’s why relationship exists. The reason is to believe. However, A feels that B rarely shows his heart of appreciation. He takes most things for granted and that makes A feels disappointed and not to mention, sad. Man, if you know B, please give him a WHACK in his big ass and if I were B, tell me that “Hey hoe, I know you will not be B”. Give me a slap in my face then. Please think of ways to butter her corn. Be her sweetener.

Sit down, lay back and reminisce, recall back how much our Heavenly Father has been caring and loving for us. Count His abundant blessings. How many times have we sinned against Him and done things unpleasing to His eyes yet He still forgives us? Are we still hating someone? Are we still cursing someone? Being jealous for what others possess? Ashamed of being not as good as others? Do I still enjoy being self-centered and worship egoism? Have I been giving and be a blessing to the people around me? Having secret affair outside relationship or courtship? Look down and jeer at the poor? Refuse to be optimistic and losing hope in Christ? Driving recklessly on the road and a threat to others? Are we still taking things for granted? In short, where is our testimony?

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says, “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

1 Timothy 4:12 says, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.”

So, we as the soldiers of Christ, Awake and Arise!

A Bi

His first impression to me was a man of few words, quiet and shy. That was 7 years back when we were still in primary school. We were in the same class since primary 6. That’s the furthest I could remember. Nothing much took place and nothing much I could remember. We were just merely classmates. The only thing I could remember was that both of us were prefect, in-charge of toilet. Hey, don’t look down on janitor like us, we still contribute. All the students should be thankful for the fragrant harpic smell and cleanliness of the lavatory ok!

Moving on, we were in the same class from secondary one until secondary three. I could say that this three years really weighed a lot where the fundamental of our relationship was built, brick by brick and getting stronger and stronger as time went on. We sat next to each other for these three years. We even shared the same position in class for one or two times and our performance were on the same par. During standard three, I could still vividly remember he brought this particular Yeos packet drinks to school every day. To be proud and greedy, I kindly helped him to get rid with all the drinks so that his school bag would be slightly lighter, for his own good. He was indeed a strange monster at that time as he always brought cold or iced mineral water to school, no matter how cold the weather was. Apart from being classmates, we were teammates on field as both of us have great interest in football. Tuesday had been the most anticipative day of a week as we had our physical class. Days before every Tuesday we already came out with our teams, strategy, position and all sorts of changes and management.

Undeniably, despite being close friend, we encountered misunderstanding as well. I could still remember once when this undisclosed friend stabbed and accused me of saying bad things regarding A Bi, that Bi was a lousy player. Recalling back, though I can’t deny the fact at this moment (hahaha, sorry ah, I am jux too good, weiha), I didn’t say anything bad about A Bi, seriously and I dare not. So on that particular afternoon during school, A Bi was extremely quiet, moody and cold towards me. It was totally insane. Could you imagine a numb sitting next to you? Anyway in the end A Bi turned to me and demanded an explanation from me. Out of the blue I was stunned as being totally confused. The only reply was, “Ginger, you trust me or him? Do you think I will say something like that?” So we lived happily ever after that incident. Lol. Frankly speaking, I didn’t know what Gay means at that time.

Form 4 and form 5 we were forced to separate. I don’t understand the system of distributing and allocating students, perhaps according to height? Lol. But if it was so, so weird that Candy and Aron were in the same class as me. Though being in different class, we still visited each other (with intentions and meeting up other friends as well) especially during recess time. It sounds pretty pretty gay. After form 5, Bi headed for Concord College, a distinguished college in UK under FAMA Scholarship without any prerequisite and interview. No money no talk. On the other hand, I furthered my studies in KL under Public Transport Department (JPA). So our future lies ahead, of our choice and the choice is in our hand. Two roads diverged, two roads to travel, two roads with different promises.

One thing I like about A Bi is his patience towards everything, so far as I know. Perhaps he learnt it from his driver, who has been serving the family since 50 BC, still going strong. No matter how hard one tickles, pinches, or in malay we say “kacau him”, he used to be very patient, and always is. So, 1st criteria of a future husband that A Bi possesses, patience. Next, he is humble. He was born with a diamond spoon in his mouth but he remains humble. If one doesn’t know his background, you will think that he is just another person. You are totally wrong! If I were his lorry driver, the 1st thing I do is to resign. The reason is because I will be pissed off dumping overbalanced dollar notes into rejang river. Lolz. Juz kidding. Anyway, Bi doesn’t like to show off, unlike most rich little brats. Good on you Bi. Apart from that, A Bi is a stalwart follower of Christ. He is a man after God. A man of faith, trust and obedience. A man seeking for his way, truth and light. I would say a man with a heart after God, we can’t expect more. Gals please take note. Last but not least, I found this pretty interesting but thumbs up for Bi. Everyone should learn from him. He never buys pirated goods, either CDs, VCDs, and DVDs to name a few. I still remember what he told me before, “Hoe, supporting and buying pirated goods is a sin. Why? Because pirated goods are against the law. Going against the law means wrongfulness. So you are committing a sin right?” Superb explanation. Since then, I never get my hands on pirated goods, especially CDs and VCDs.

I have been telling my friends that A Bi is the most perfect man I ever met, even until now. Although there are still rooms to improve, A Bi has always been my benchmark. I have learnt and seen a lot from him and he has reminded me a lot of petty little things that I might neglect easily in my life. I am not trying to say that Bi is perfect, because there is nobody who is perfect in this world but God, not to flatter him or to praise him but what I want to convey to my readers is that – Bi is a friend in need and a friend indeed, amazing and loving child of God. Oh yeah, forgot to tell you that Bi is tall, handsome and beautiful. He is as graceful as a swan, hardworking (not in all things), outgoing and optimistic. He talks very softly, sometimes I feel that he is shy. Shy bi. Hey, be a man leh. Oh ya, another good thing of Bi is that - “No Foul Language!” Heeheee… Shhh… Don’t say I say de ah, he is bit lazy la, sleeps a lot, and not very punctual de, always the last one reaching class… He eats a lot le, thinks a lot, plays a lot, and a stalker. Every time his Msn appears offline. Anyway, I am also good at that. Hai… Gong xie no leh…

Gals out there, this guy handsome rite? Look at me u will know la.

Aftermath

Few weeks ago I wrote a post but didn't have the chance to post it. Digging it out, I would like to share just part of it. Here it goes...
"... Sorry for above outburst. Back to the story, He is in relationship la. When a hand touches another hand, both hands are “shocked”. If you ask Ronan Keating, he will say when you say nothing at all. If you ask Faith Hill, she will reply, “There you’ll be, my dear.” If you still can’t find the answer, Eminem will tell you, “Crazy in Love”. Samsom will reassure you that it will be kenangan terindah but be careful he might bluff you. If you ask your a gun a ma they will say, “son ah son, ai bia jia eh yia ah, boh bia an jua wu? Leng lui shui shui bo lang zai ah, tapi lu on her lu must kahwin liao, eh zai bo? Lu on liao beh dan gong lu mai liao, is not like buying clothes when they are too tight you return to the department store and tell the worker, “sorry ah, not fit me too fat”, eh zai bo? And when you are picking your clothes, don’t ever simply pick just because you like it, eh zai bo?
Lol. Aforementioned has already been a past after a meteor crashed on the earth. But sometimes, Friendship can be sweeter and more "affordable" than a Relationship. Learn to take up commitment, learn to be responsible, learn to be accountable for another person, and learn for the sake of a everlasting relationship. Breaking up yet remain to be close friends, how sweet it is, and how rare it is. It's just like honey in the rock. God Bless you two, my friends!

It Takes Two to Happen

Of late, I witnessed many relationships taking place, couples breaking up, lovers getting married as well as marriage on the verge of tearing down. Too much to swallow on an empty stomach but these scenarios have been part and parcel of life and occurring every day. Everybody wants to be loved, everybody wants to be in love, everybody couldn’t resist the urge to taste the forbidden fruit, everybody is chasing after love. Love is something we can’t see or touch, but we can feel it because we have feelings. Love brings hope, security, sweetness, strength but love can kill when we misuse it, at the wrong time and place. Love is the intense feeling of deep affection, a great pleasure and interest in something or someone, and deep romantic or sexual attachment to someone. Love is affectionate greetings. It is easy to say, “I love you”, but expressing is another thing. When someone says, “I love you, Candy.” What does he mean? Love for the sake of loving or being lustful? Love her because of her personality, her attitude, her characteristic that you think two of you can be attached well together or just longing for her boobs and making love with her? Think twice before engaging in relationship.

It takes two to happen, it takes two to work. It’s just like any other games, football or basketball to name a few, the kindred spirit and cooperation among the players are ultimately important. Everyone needs to pour in their respective best effort and performance in order to ensure the survivability and existence of the team, same goes to relationship. If a party chooses to sit on the fence then it is just a matter of time that the relationship vanishes into thin air.

It is undeniable that there are too many obstacles that will simply rear their ugly heads which can easily tear down a relationship. Distance, misunderstanding, fear, doubts, insecurity, parents’ disapproval, difference in background, characteristic, personality and goal, existence of third party, being lackadaisical and lacklustre, easily fed up, losing patience, trust and faith, being jealous and many more. All these will make the relationship vulnerable to attacks as the fundamental and the corner stone of a relationship are fading.

Recently I came across a case where the guy is pulling out due to numerous reasons, most probably because of doubts and insecurities. The gal seems to be the black sheep waiting to be slaughtered, though on the surface they remain close friends as before, this guy has hurt her a lot. Making up is a process but breaking up is another process. Both are equally important. Take up the gauntlet to play as a man, anyway relationship is a process of learning, accepting, tolerating, forgiving, admiring, encouraging, building, assisting, holding, intimating, and most importantly, praying. Girl tends to be the weaker sex, deny it or not. Both parties should learn how to bear the onus and responsibility and contribute. It couldn’t be more hopeful that both parties have a common ground.

Distance can be harmful but not in all cases. Keep your mind and heart, be mindful about that. You can broaden your eyesight as the world outside is just too mysterious and exciting. Sexy gals, hot gals and lanky guys are just too tasty. One will come across a myriad of people. The core thing is to learn how to discern and contemplate. Is it a game playing love or a puppy love? Is it because of lust, desire or merely to show off of being the only fish in the sea? Safeguard and protect every relationship and pray earnestly. Listen from God and not one’s heart, one will never get wrong.

If a couple is meant to be together, by God’s will, they will. No worry as God is the Provider and He will prepare the most suitable person or better half for each and every one of us. Treasure what is in front of us and leave the rest to God. He takes care. He leads. We obey. Our God knows what we need, seek for His kingdom and these things will be given to you. Amen.

Yesterday Once More...

The day after tomorrow, where will you be? They say life is more than a dream. They say life is a rollercoaster. They say life never goes on smoothly as there must be ups and downs in between. What say you? Life goes on. Again, another year will be recorded as history, mankind’s history. “Is you, and me, moving at the speed of light into eternity…” This sounds pretty familiar if you are Christ Brown’s ardent fan. I will use the phrase “at the speed of light” to describe how fast the year of 2008 is going to pass as it draws near to the end of December. Frankly, 365 days seems pretty long but it never is. Reminiscing the past 364 days, I have done nothing much and it’s just another typical day in a year that I sit down and exclaim to myself, “Wow, another year has passed!”

In this year, I spent most of my days perhaps 3 quarters of it in Inti, another quarter in Sibu. I attended two youth camps when I was attending Nilai Methodist Church in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, attended Chinese Methodist Youth Annual Conference in Penang, Youth Camp in Sarikei, visited and passed by Kuching a few times, Johor Bahru, Melaka, drove pass Penang Bridge on the first time I visited Penang, dated a girl and still dating – first love, did badly for my Math exam, scored 97.45 for my South Australian Matriculation SSABSA Examination, bought a digital camera – Olympus Fe-320, being part of the Rumah Methodist Nilai, scored 101 three points on a rainy night in Inti prior to my departure, made new friends, enjoyed my crazy days and involved in crazy stuff in Inti, took part in Inti Basketball League, attended a ball with her, celebrated her birthday, my birthday and many friends’ birthday, bought a cake for my mom on her birthday (she told me that if she still could remember, that’s her 1st birthday cake… so sad), reunion with all my siblings… the list goes on. There are many things to give thanks as well – for my life in Inti, for my safety on road, for my blessed family, for my result, for my brother’s result, for my girlfriend – such a caring, wonderful person and most importantly, a gal whose heart is after HIM, for my Nilai church pastors, brothers and sisters in Christ, for my friends and many more… (Written on 30th December 2008)

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

My last entry was about a month more ago. On returning to Sibu I have been out most of the days hanging around with my close friends, namely Aron, A Bi, Sd, Candy, Th, Luluyuyu and Chris Brownie. I guess you guys are really interested where we went and what we did. Well, our typical day starts off with A Bi & Aron – our most dedicated and loyal drivers fetching company around, after ensuring the right number we start hunting for food. Different cafes, different taukes and different taste really mean a tonne to us. Like Obama, we demand changes. Change has come to Sibu. Lol, as if. 20 more years la. But a bi is just a diehard laksa lover. He has gargantuan appetite with big pocket and thick wallet. So, no worries. Ensued on is our most exciting part of the day, may it be or not, either CS, DOTA, FIFA or just merely listening to our honey sweet Candy bluffing and blowing cannon. Sometimes we will just drive around aimlessly, cheer at nobody along the roadside, gaze at the passers-by, give the passengers or even motorcar drivers a scare of their life, speed pass pools of water, driving around the roundabouts, give the taxi drivers cold shoulder while in the evening usually we will be heroes under the sun. We put on our respective jerseys and boots kicking around Aron’s field. If you kick too hard they call it “Metallic”. Don’t ask me why. We are not nocturnal creatures but we love hanging out and stop by cafes to catch some football matches. Few days ago we just had our barbecue at Aron’s place and it was fun. I was torn out barbecuing the whole night but the smiles on their faces cheer me on. I love serving people though the food may taste bad.

Recently we found another hideout. Cuppa Kopi Roti, a lovely place for people like us who have nothing to do and nothing to lose. It is air-conditioned, WIFI available and a very sweet place for couples to enjoy their dinner, I wonder. Our existence and arrival should be a disaster for them. Sorry ya. The waiters – a guy and a gal, pretty and handsome couldn’t run away from our eyes. They are appraisable. Hardworking and good looking. Look at me u will know la. Combo pack. Cards, Uno and chess are our main course. We can easily spend up to hours playing and laughing cum tricking the waiters as we wonder the boss will ban us from patronizing again in future unless he has second thought.

Time flies and we gonna depart again. Bidding adieu seems to be part and parcel of our days. A Bi is leaving for UK in days to come, continuing his studies at LSE. On this faithful day I have a chance to meet up his close friend, sorry I don’t know how close coz I don’t have the exact tool to measure, or presumably it’s beyond measurement? Cat with a H at the back. Do u think she is a guy or a gal? Lame joke. This is the 1st time I met her hopefully is the last (haha) but anyway, bravo Bi his company is easy to talk to and a big apple lover. Ha. Coz she is crunching a gigantic apple the moment I boarded the car, and still biting when we disembarked. All the best to Cat in your years in Monash’s Family. God bless you with ample apples.

Aron the big head on the other hand managed to find himself a part time job. I wonder is a job or run away from falling in love with me. He gonna rock the office or company, ripley’s believe me or not. Anyway, on his first day of working he left early for lunch and got a pile of materials to pore over. I hope that the following days will be better or else I gonna visit him near seven and a half miles in Kuching, if time allows. He is a slugabed. Storm his house at 12pm you will get the answer.

Candy is in dilemma and finds it hard to forget his one time lover. He is a boast man and big joker. He is astonished and feeling very awkward and bashful on seeing double S. He was off for scholarship interview on Saturday and going to be a part time teacher. I couldn’t imagine his future students but I must say they are extremely honored to be Candy’s students. I do have one worry over here as we guys might find it difficult to hunt for Candy especially when he mingles around with his students, not to mention the skin color. His dad is still crazy about counting-down. Uncle, please la.

Luluyuyu is stagnant. He never changes. Monotone? Lol. He is even better than that. He will interrupt anybody’s conversation and we do not expect anything meaningful from him. But I think due to his special feature many gals will be crazy about him, that’s why he is still single. He is too linguistic and even if you read between the lines, under the lines or over the lines you will never ever get what he says. Ignore him that’s what we always do to save the day, mind you. He is connected with Lulu, a gal in his age but their status remains “Unfathomable”. Lulu + Yuyu = Luyu – type of mutated fish currently unavailable in market. This name is the brainchild and originated from Aron, popped out somewhere in nowhere.

Sd I will say what goes around comes around. He is now expanding his business at the age of 19 and he has a great future ahead. He gonna be the next tycoon in Sibu. Trust me. People start doing business as early as 5 or 6 am and close at 12am. He starts his at 8 or 9 and closes at 12pm. His business is not as bad. Kudos to him. Recently I heard rumours saying that he discovered the secret recipe of bancuhing YongYang, remember is YongYang not YingYang. He is selling it at RM1.80 per cup. Good job. Master skill, not master kill please.

Christ Brownie is currently obsessed with a gal called Nicky Martin or Nickie Maro at the age of only, only 15. But the world is changing. So can’t blame him la. He is too innocent and looks like a puppy, cute and loving. He is still dota-minded, everyday gg here gg there. He has very close peers namely Tiny and Bobby. Sounds like animal right? Oh, heard that he stunned the whole class and open fired as he almost topped the class from the back. I know, he always likes to backside people. Bravo Chris, keep up the good work. You will bring cheers and smiles to your family. As brother, I am extremely proud of you!

Me ah? To be humble I am still humble, looking good and feeling good, unavailable and last warning to gals around, stop peeking and stalking me ok? I understand why but what to do? Just don’t get crazy about me la. I can’t help oi… Gongchiu?
